UPDATED: Possible burglar shot and killed in east Dallas
EAST DALLAS Dallas police are investigating a shooting late Wednesday night in which a man looking after a business at the 300 block of Alcalde Street, near Haskell Avenue and Elm Street, shot and killed an apparent burglar. This is the latest in a series of calls the police have made to the business since 2005.

You are right. This did not accur in Deep Ellum. It was in Old East Dallas. The Dallas Morning News has already corrected the mis-identification.
