Dallas-based Tornado Bus Company shut down after fatal crash

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has shut down the Tornado Bus Company. The Dallas-based business ran the bus that crashed in November en route from Chicago to DFW, killing four and injuring another 40. Since 2001, Tornado has been fined more than $63,000 for letting employees drive longer than is considered safe. They are also under investigation for falsifying records. The driver of that deadly crash had been issued four speeding tickets in the last six years, though the official cause of the crash has not yet been released by investigators.

While the federal administration now paints the Tornado Bus Company as repeatedly negligent, they ranked Tornado in the top 25 percent in the U.S. for driver and vehicle safety. As such, I am never taking the bus again.
