MCKINNEY The city of McKinney has hired Frank Ragan to fill the position of City Manager; his intended start date is late February, no later than March 5. Ragan is the current Deputy City Manager of Aurora, Colo.
During his 16-year tenure at Aurora, Ragan served several roles. As Deputy City Manager for Operations, he managed the development of the City's first comprehensive facilities master plan. Most recently, he oversaw the Police, Fire, Neighborhood Services, Recreation and Cultural Services, and Libraries departments.
"I find the values and the opportunities of McKinney to be extremely enticing, and look forward to bringing my experiences with quality growth management and a sustainability agenda, like economic, environmental and social goals, to the table," said Ragan. "I am eager to work closely with the City Council and the community to maintain and improve the quality of life and make growth a complement to McKinney's already unique character."
Ragan was among three finalists. The national search was conducted by Arcus Public of Harrisburg, Penn. He succeeds Larry Robinson, who retires in January after serving as the City Manager of McKinney since 2000.
"The Council is extremely excited about our new City Manager. Frank Ragan has a proven track record and the necessary experience in a high-growth community to lead our management team," said Mayor Bill Whitfield.
