Tecole Taco House in Uptown Dallas closes abruptly
DALLAS Tecole Taco House, the upscale taqueria on McKinney Avenue in Uptown, abruptly shut down this week.
Employees were reportedly called in to a meeting two days ago by owners Feargal McKinney and Dave Allen and told that the restaurant would shut down that day.
The recording on the phone says that a pub will be going in:
Hello, you've reached the number for Tecole Taco House. We are no longer in business. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and want to thank all of our customers for their support and encouragement over the past eight months. We will be reopening as a pub at this very location shortly. This phone number remains a business phone number and will be checked regularly so please feel free to leave a message.
When the restaurant opened, it represented a stretch for McKinney, going beyond the pub-and-grub formula of sibling properties Old Monk and Idle Rich across the street, even to the point of bringing in four-star chef Ian Beach, formerly of the (Rosewood) Mansion on Turtle Creek.
The front yard patio was a popular drinking spot last summer, but Beach's departure and subsequent resurfacing at the Grand Met at the DFW Hyatt in November didn't seem to bode well for Tecole. Still, a sudden closure during Christmas week is certainly unexpected; pretty crappy time to lose your job.

This is horrible! We were JUST there and decided not to eat there because of time constraints and said that we would come back in Jan. Now we cannot...it looked so cool. I am very sad. Who needs another pub on that street?

Why would Feargal open a new pub across the street from a pub he & partners already own? Does not make a lick of sense... unless he's dumping out of that new venture.
