Red light camera to be installed at Beckley and Colorado intersection

Drivers beware.

It is being reported that the city of Dallas will be installing a new red light camera at the intersection of Beckley and Colorado. Over 50 other locations throughout the city are also expected to have new red light cameras in the near future.

Recently, there has been a debate brewing in DFW as to whether the red light cams make the streets safer by keeping cars from running stop lights, or whether they make the streets more dangerous by making drivers so skittish about being ticketed that they cause a wreck.

Either way, let the ticketing begin!

Robert Brooks, says:

The camera at Beckley and Colorado is already in action -- it was part of the first wave, as reported on Pegasus News several weeks ago. The most annoying thing is when it catches someone, and the strobe lights flash. I can imagine someone getting distracted by the flash and causing a wreck themselves.

Chad Jones, says:

A valid point, RobertB. That's actually something we discussed when other lights were being installed in December: http://www.pegasusnews.com/news/2006/...
