CONGRATULATIONS to all Nominees, and to the music-loving public who took the time to make their feelings known. It’s an awesome synergy – we’re extremely proud to welcome these fine artists and radio stations to the special list of TMA NOMINEES.
Don’t forget – public voting begins on Monday, February 5th, and continues until midnight on Friday, February 23rd. You’ll be able to find a special logo/link on each nominee’s website by then, or just go to www.TexasMusicAwards.org to read more about the awards, the guidelines, voting procedure, etc. There’s also an awesome video (LiveFromTexas.com) at the TMA site – it’s a five-minute or so demo of last year’s show, and will give you an idea of what a prestigious event this really is. It’s worth the time to upload!!!

Two items of interest from the Texas Music Academy's ("sanctioning" body of the Texas Music Awards) website (http://www.mytexasmusic.com/ ):
Only performers who are members of the Academy are eligible
3rd sentence found on http://www.mytexasmusic.com/ : "In an effort to insure high standards..." "Insuring" high standards should begin by using spell check...
Not trying to deminish the nominies, but sceptical of the organization/process...

You're correct, it's a select group. But it's a mom and pop organization that's grown from nothing to something in a few years. Unfortunately, their HQ was in Houston, I believe, and now it's out in the middle of nowhere in Linden. Not that I don't like the middle of nowhere. I do. Plus, there's a lot of music history in that little town. But I say this from a marketing standpoint. Yes, they pass a lot of info. back and forth via the Internet. But sometimes being in a big city can help the effort. Not trying to diminish what MTM does, every time I've contacted them they've been wonderful, spell check or no spell check. :)
