Grapevine church uses Super Bowl commercials in sermon
Happy Super Bowl Sunday. Colts 57, Chicago 0. You heard it here first. Anyway, some churches use today as a way to drawn in potential new members. Make sure the TV screen isn't too big, though. LIFEchurch in North Richland Hills, for example, has canceled its Super Bowl plans after hearing about the NFL cracking down on venues for specific violations. Former Cowboy wide receiver Alexander Wright was scheduled to join the LIFEchurch's party immediately following the Sunday service.
Dr. Ken Diehm at First United Methodist Church in Grapevine wanted to use the game's commercials in his sermon to ask, "What image of life are you being sold?" If you're not there in person, you should be able to watch the sermon when they put it on the church's video archive page.
Here's the famous Mean Joe Green commercial from 1980 (referenced by Dr. Diehm in the link above), which is presumably the best Super Bowl commercial ever.
