Makeover OK’d for landmark post office building downtown
DALLAS After two years of tenderly wooing the feds, a Dallas investment group has closed on the landmark US Post Office building at 400 N. Ervay St. in downtown Dallas.
Todd Interests, who sent the General Services Administration flowers and love notes nearly every day, got the OK with a $100-million-plus plan that'll give the five-story building a mixed-use makeover, with retail, restaurant, entertainment, and office space, as well as approximately 40 residential units. The US Postal Service facility will remain.
Built in 1929, the building, which overlooks Thanks-Giving Square, is Italian Renaissance in design, with Indiana limestone, two courtrooms boasting 18-foot ceilings, and historic frescos, including 13 vignettes depicting mail delivery systems like the Pony Express and stagecoach.

Anyone know if the vignettes were part of the WPA art oprject? I think Peter Hurd did the murals at the Terminal Building Post Office, but I don't know if this is the same building.
