Neighbors needed to participate in Two-Points anti-crime walking tour
WHITE ROCK HILLS The following came over the e-transom from Vikki Martin at the Ferguson Road Initiative:
Dear White Rock Hills Friends & Neighbors:
The Ferguson Road Initiative (FRI) has worked diligently over the last five years to reduce violent crime by 61% and overall crime by 24% in the graduated Weed and Seed target area and in the neighborhoods to the west near Garland Road.
As you are aware, our neighbors to the east (Buckner/Peavy area) have asked for our help in addressing the serious crime issues in their neighborhoods; drug trafficking, robbery, gangs, and prostitution. The FRI 2 Points Weed and Seed community was designated as an officially recognized W & S community in 2005 and began receiving funding in 2006.
This Saturday, February 10, 2007, 3-5 p.m. at the intersection of Buckner/John West (in front of the Bingo Hall) the Ferguson Road Initiative will be joining with the Dallas Police Department's Northeast Division and our neighbors to the east in a showing of solidarity in taking a stand against crime.
In the first of several Police Walking Tour Initiatives, residents, business owners, faith communities and schools will be taking a public stand against crime and sending a clear message to criminals in our community that crime will no longer be tolerated in our neighborhoods. By walking arm in arm and shoulder to shoulder, we can take back our neighborhoods.
I am asking ALL residents of FRI and the White Rock Hills neighborhoods to attend this march. We are expecting media coverage of this event, as it will be the first Police Walking Tour Initiative sponsored by the Northeast Division. We want an incredible turnout, come rain or shine!
For any questions, please contact FRI Crime Prevention Specialist Marcie Himes at 214.321.3355 or fri.cps@sbcglobal.net
Vikki J. Martin, Executive Director, FRI
I'm a resident of this neighborhood, and I know that I'd be grateful if everyone in the area would attend. Especially after looking at the latest crime map.

Mike Orren, says:
2-points does refer to the Buckner-Peavy area.
Here's a good map.
