Oklahoma State lands impressive recruiting class
Among the class of 23 newcomers are three players who were named SuperPrep All-Americans in 2007, one athlete honored as first-team All-America by the National Junior College Athletic Association, and the fourth Parade All-American to sign with Oklahoma State since 1985.
“It’s a balanced class that leans a little toward the skill positions on both sides of the ball,” Gundy said. “We are going to lose a lot of people next year at receiver, and we needed some help there. We also needed a good year numbers wise on the defensive line, and I think we’ve done that.”
Receiver Dez Bryant and defensive end Richetti Jones were among the top-rated players in the country at their positions. Both were SuperPrep All- Americans, with Bryant also a member of the prestigious Parade All-America team. That duo, along with athlete William Cole, provides Oklahoma State with three of the top 15 players in the state of Texas, including two of the top 10. Overall, eight of the top 100 players in Texas signed with the Cowboys with 16 student-athletes from Texas included in the class total. That number includes Deron Fontenot, who signed with OSU last February, but did not enroll until January of 2007 due to injury.
