PETA erects giant bed for ‘Fur—Out, Love—In’ for nude sexy hottie activist rally

DALLAS — PETA’s internationally renowned "I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur" campaign will hit Dallas today, when PETA’s bevy of sexy nude activists will climb into a giant bed and hold signs that read, "Fur—Out, Love—In," to take their message of compassion in fashion to consumers for Valentine’s Day.

The fur trade has strangely had no effect on the liger population.

"Compassion is a big turn-on, but fur-wearers leave me cold," says valentine vixen and PETA member Joanne Sim. "By showing some of our skin, we hope to save animals’ skins."

Date: Wednesday, February 7

Time: 12 noon

Place: Outside Pegasus Plaza at the corner of Akard and Main Street.

The PETA people do this every year; always at Pegasus Plaza; generally in February. And it's always a big deal, because people never tire of <a href="http://www.pegasusnews.com/news/in/lifestyle/hotties/">hotties</a>
They used to get naked-er. I snapped cameraphone pictures two years ago for D, but can't find it on their site.

Animals skinned for fur come from two places—fur ranches and trapping the animals in the wild. On fur ranches, animals lead miserable lives confined in small, filthy cages. They are cruelly killed by being gassed, suffocated, or by electrocution. They are electrocuted anally or through the mouth so that the blood doesn’t ruin the “clothes.”

Trapping animals in the wild for fur is not any more humane. There are many traps used to trap animals. One common trap is the steel-jaw leghold trap. This trap closes with bone-crushing force onto an animal. The animals often try to chew their own limbs off to escape. The traps also catch our companion animals such as dogs and cats. These traps are dangerous to children.

I got no problem with that message, but I think PETA is missing the boat with the method. Tomorrow, all anyone will remember is naked chics. Not the animals being abused.

That's what makes it a lame stunt. I love effective publicity stunts.
