Valentine’s Day is known as a time to show someone how much you care. And while most choose to show their significant others, Dallas’ Bliss Spa wants to show they “Have-a-Heart” for the Dallas Independent School District (ISD).

“The Have-a-Heart program was designed specifically for Dallas to reach out to a group of professionals that give a lot to the community but aren’t always shown the gratitude they deserve,” Robyn Fishelson, Bliss publissity manager, said. “We believe offering treatments to teachers will give them some time to relax and also show them how much Bliss appreciates all they do in Dallas.”

In honor of Valentine’s Day, therapists from Bliss Dallas will visit elementary schools in the Dallas ISD between Feb. 12 and Feb. 14 to provide free treatments to teachers and faculty. Bliss will offer mini treatments such as hand and neck massages in the teachers’ lounges during lunch times.

"Dallas ISD is excited that Bliss is providing these special spa treatment for targeted teachers and school staff,” Loraine Green Lee, executive director of community services for Dallas ISD, said. “It should be a uniquely refreshing experience that will rejuvenate them for the rest of the school year."

Participating Dallas ISD schools were identified as disadvantaged and deserving by the Office of Community Services and selected for the Have-a-Heart program. The schools include S. S. Connor, Margaret Henderson and Stevens Park elementary schools. Bliss will visit S.S. Connor on Feb. 12, Margaret Henderson on Feb. 13 and Stevens Park on Feb. 14 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

“Have a Heart is a great way for teachers and administrators to take some time for themselves,” Briston Daz, Bliss Dallas general manager, said. “The teachers at these schools truly put their hearts into their work and spend their days improving the lives of their students. We hope the Bliss mini spa treatments provide them with some well-deserved relaxation.”

Dallas ISD began its affiliation with Bliss in June 2006 when the spa first opened its doors in Dallas. To celebrate its launch, Bliss offered a “recess” program with more than $60,000 worth of facials, massages and body treatments to Dallas ISD teachers.

“Too often those of us in education tend to concentrate on working to ensure the education of our students and fail to spend time being nice to ourselves,” said Green Lee. “Thanks to Bliss, hundreds of staff have visited the spa at the W Dallas-Victory since June and delighted in the complimentary treatments that gave a new meaning to the word 'blissful.’ The district's partnership with Bliss has provided a little bit of paradise for staff that truly deserves it.”
