The Dallas Foundation announces $5 million fund to benefit military families
DALLAS The Dallas Foundation today announced the creation of the $5 million Texas Resources for Iraq Afghanistan Deployment (TRIAD) Fund, which will distribute grants to nonprofit organizations across the North Texas region over the next two years. The money will be awarded to nonprofit groups that provide needed services to active and former military personnel serving in Iraq and/or Afghanistan and their families.
“Thousands of North Texas men and women are fighting for us every day in Iraq and Afghanistan, and find themselves and their families stretched thin, emotionally, physically, and financially,” said John Ware, an Army veteran, member of The Dallas Foundation Board of Governors, and chairman of the TRIAD Fund Advisory Committee. “It is our greatest hope that the TRIAD Fund at The Dallas Foundation will help alleviate some of that burden. We owe it to our servicemen and women.”
The Iraq-Afghanistan Deployment Impact Fund at the Los-Angeles based California Community Foundation awarded $5 million to each of three Texas community foundations: The Dallas Foundation, the Permian Basin Area Foundation and the San Antonio Area Foundation. The Dallas Foundation’s grant region includes North and East Texas, encompassing Dallas/Fort Worth, Killeen (including Fort Hood), Texarkana, Wichita Falls and surrounding areas.
