Towards the end of what should have been the final climax to a breathtaking show, an unfortunate accident brought a somber mood over the crowd attending Cirque du Soleil's opening performance of Corteo in Fair Park on Friday. Although the fall was only 6 feet, the performer apparently landed head first and did not move after hitting the mats below. The man was carried from the stage on a back board and taken by ambulance to a hospital. Audience members left the show not knowing the performer's condition.
A spokeswoman for the show has reported that his injuries did not require an overnight hospital stay and that he is recovering well.
