Presenting a choral celebration for all generations, this performance will honor the Irving Chorale’s 20th anniversary season. The concert program, "Singing Alone Will Content Us", will highlight popular children’s literature, including choral arrangements of nursery rhymes and other children’s stories. This special event will feature an honor chorus of 5th grade children from 13 Irving schools.

The Irving Chorale was recently awarded a TACA grant in support of this concert at an awards ceremony at the Dallas Museum of Art. TACA’s mission is to provide financial support and services and to increase public awareness and participation in the performing arts of North Texas, which improve the quality of life for citizens of all economic, social and ethnic backgrounds. Criteria for selection include artistic merit, fiscal responsibility, service to the community, and community support and participation.

“It is a distinct honor and a privilege to be recognized for the first time by TACA for our continuous involvement in promoting the arts,” said Phil Armstrong, president of the Irving Chorale. “The Irving Chorale has carried a fine vocal tradition in the City of Irving for the past twenty years and we hope we will continue strong for another twenty. We are proud to be sharing the stage with the next generation of young and talented artists.”

“This is sure to be one of the finest vocal events this season,” said the Chorale’s Artistic Director Harry Wooten. “We all owe a great debt of gratitude to the choral directors and voice teachers who have coached and guided us through this journey, and we hope many of our past alumni will join with us in celebrating their accomplishments during this performance.”

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students with official school identification and can be purchased at the door the night of the event. The performance begins at 8 p.m.
