UPDATED: Texas House Appropriations Chairman Warren Chisum apologizes for anti-semitic document
The memo refers readers to a website that argues Jewish physicists have been involved in a conspiracy for centuries to destroy Christian teachings of Earth's origins.
House Appropriations Chairman Warren Chisum has publicly apologized for distributing a memo from Georgia GOP Rep. Ben Bridges to the Texas House members' mailboxes that contained language which the Anti-Defamation League has since classified as anti-semitic. The memo includes claims like "evolution science has a very specific religious agenda." It also refers readers to a website that argues Jewish physicists have been involved in a conspiracy for centuries to destroy Christian teachings of Earth's origins.
UPDATE: Chisum has agreed to meet with the Anti-Defamation League on March 7th in an effort to smooth over any misunderstandings about him personally that came as a result of the memo. Chisum also sent the League a letter of apology late Friday afternoon. While Chisum has gone on record as saying that the controversial memo does not accurately portray his views, he has not yet repudiated the content contained in the memo.
