UT Arlington hosts 7th annual Calculus Bowl

Hey, smarty pants, how much smart stuff can you fit in your big fat head? As much as these DFW high school students in this contest on Friday?

High school calculus students will do battle in the Seventh Annual University of Texas at Arlington Calculus Bowl, 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, in rooms 110 and 104, Pickard Hall, 411 S. Nedderman Drive.

The fast-paced competition consists of several rounds of a lively playoff game, based on multiple-choice pre-calculus and calculus questions displayed one-at-a-time via a computer projection system. During rounds, free pizza and sodas are served. The public is welcome to cheer on the teams. Free Calculus Bowl T-Shirts are given to each contestant and awards are presented to first-and-second-place teams and finalists.

Last year, Argyle High School took first place and Birdville High School in North Richland Hills came in second. The Oakridge School in Arlington has kind of a dynasty in this thing, finishing first twice (2004, 2005) and second in 2003.

Here's a sample question:

HAHAHA! Good luck, suckers! Ooops, sorry, I left off answer (f) - You've got to be @#$%! kidding me. P.S. - Here's a site that will make you feel like an idiot.
