Bid placed to name Southlake Carroll’s workout facility
An athletic training company has entered a bid for the naming rights of the workout building at Carroll Senior High.
Tomorrow, the school's trustees will consider a 10-year, $300,000 offer to name its workout building the Performance Course Stalcup Training Center.
Proposed by Titus Sports Marketing, a Dallas firm that specializes in high school athletics marketing, the name would honor Charlie Stalcup, a former Carroll teacher and football coach who passed away after battling melanoma.
In 2004, Dr Pepper/Seven Up Bottling Co. of Texas offered to pay $570,000 to extend a vending contract for five years and rename Carroll's natatorium the Deja Blue Aquatics Center, after the bottled water. District officials passed it up because they thought they could get more money.
