Mesquite school district asks for money for new elementary school
Enrollment keeps growing, with just under 300 new students in 2006.
MESQUITE Mesquite's school district is asking voters to approve its largest bond proposal ever in May: $180 million in bonds. It would require an increase in property tax rate by about 5 cents per $100 of assessed value.
About $130 million, says the DMN, would pay for a new elementary school in South Mesquite, plus renovating and rebuilding other campuses.
The proposal also includes money for computers, vehicles, instructional equipment, and building maintenance.
