Here comes the Great Texas Warrant Roundup - sounds like a hit!

If you have an outstanding warrant, you might want to take care of that real quick like. Otherwise you'll be arrested and hauled before a magistrate and the only way to get out of it is to sing a three-minute, Jennifer Hudson-like show stopper!

This is the last week for people with outstanding warrants to take care of them before this weekend when more than 150 law enforcement agencies across Texas participate in the Great Texas Warrant Roundup. Kind of sounds like a somewhat acceptable, community theater show that wouldn't be a bad way to spend a Saturday afternoon, as long as nothing else is playing, all movie projectors are busted, the music scene is non-existent, the Mavs, Cowboys, Rangers, Stars, FW Cats, Tycoons, SMU, TCU, UNT, UTA, Little League, Pop Warner, your friends, family and everything else is not in town, closed or blown up because of a propane storage tank mishap. In reality, it's a great way to get arrested if you've been a real slacker. But the show idea, I am convinced (again, somewhat - I'm kind of bobbing my head thinking about it) isn't a bad one.

North Texas law enforcement officials are urging people to take care of any outstanding warrants to avoid being arrested.

The combined statewide effort starts Saturday March 3 and runs through March 10. Officers will arrest people with outstanding warrants pending before their respective municipal courts. The focus is on outstanding Class C misdemeanor warrants, most related to traffic. However, warrants with higher charges may also be served.

Those arrested will be taken before court judges for arraignment and disposition of their cases. Full payment or suitable arrangement for full payment will be due at that time. Other options may include a cash bond, a Magistrate Court appearance, attorney representation or three-minute, Jennifer Hudson-like show stopper! There's precedence for this.
