WHITE ROCK HILLS The Ferguson Road Initiative is sponsoring its Seventh Annual Community-Wide Spring Cleanup event March 3rd, 2007 from 9:00am – 12:00pm, at the Post Office on Lakeland and Ferguson, as part of its Weed & Seed strategy.
The Dallas Police Department will conduct H.E.A.T. (Help End Auto Theft) registration at the same time. FRI is inviting neighborhood associations, Crime Watch groups, churches, schools, apartment complexes, businesses and others located in the Garland Road- Buckner- Interstate 30- White Rock Creek area to participate.
The event will be coordinated with the City of Dallas regarding areas where they will pick up bagged litter. We will also work with the City on graffiti paint-over/removal and code enforcement sweeps.
Each neighborhood, church, school, apartment complex, and business is being encouraged to clean up their area. FRI also will be seeking volunteers to clean up along main roads, parks and undeveloped lots and help out those neighborhoods that might need extra help.

Graffiti in the White Rock Hills Area

- to survey your areas, identify bad trash areas, graffiti and other issues to be addressed, and determine if you will need extra help or supplies,
- to inform your members of the events through meetings, flyers, voicemail, etc. We can provide flyers if you wish, and
- to send at least one representative to register for your group to the Post Office at Lakeland and Ferguson starting at 9am and to pick up safety information, accident liability waivers, a list of trash bag pickup locations, trash bags, gloves, etc. FRI will coordinate with that representative(s) regarding areas being covered by the cleanup. If you send a representative, please bring a list of names of your volunteers. We can provide liability release forms if you want and need them.
There will be some refreshments at the registration area.
Please contact Marcie Himes at 214.321.3355 and tell her specifically where the graffiti is so that she can pass this on to the City.
By working together we can make the Ferguson Road corridor a great place to live, work, worship and go to school.
