Schola Cantorum of Texas, under the baton of Donald L. Bailey, presents “Celebration,” with renowned organist Robert MacDonald. The two-show March concert series features all-time favorites in a program of organ and chorus repertoire. The concerts are held at First Presbyterian Church in Fort Worth, Sunday, March 4, 3:00 p.m. and Arlington’s Trinity United Methodist Church, Monday, March 5, 7:30 p.m.
The evening’s repertoire includes: the premiere performance of Fare Thee Well Love (Mulholland), God of Life (Haydn), Be Thou a Smooth Way (Johnson), The Lord is the Everlasting God (Jennings), Abraham and Isaac: A Parable of 9.11.01 (Ames), Rhosymedre (Vaughan Williams), My Morning Song (Bailey), Thou Lovely and Beloved (Young), I Am a Poor Wayfarin’ Stranger (Bailey), True Light (Hampton), and the beautiful Vierne Mass.
A nationally recognized recitalist, Mr. MacDonald held positions at Fort Worth’s First Presbyterian Church, and New York’s Riverside Church and Radio City Music Hall. A published composer, he is also known throughout the world for his extraordinary improvisational skills.
