Garth Brooks will host NHL All-Star charity gala

— As part of the entertainment and festivities that surround the 2007 NHL All-Star Celebration in Dallas, Garth Brooks will host an All-Star benefit for Garth Brooks Teammates For Kids Foundation fundraising dinner and live auction on Monday, Jan. 22. The event, presented by the National Hockey League (NHL), the NHL Foundation, the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) and Texas Dodge Dealers, will feature a performance by three-time Grammy Award-winner Trisha Yearwood.

VH1 personality Aamer Haleem will serve as the emcee for event held at the Landmark Ballroom at the Hyatt Regency Dallas. The evening begins at 8 p.m. with a cocktail reception and silent auction, followed by a dinner, live auction and Trisha Yearwood’s performance. NHL All-Stars, YoungStars and former NHL players are among the guests scheduled to attend.

Among the items available in the live auction will be an NHL-themed OC Chopper, a customized motorcycle designed by Orange County Choppers, the popular bike manufacturing company featured in Discovery Channel’s hit reality show, “American Chopper”; a 27-liter Napa Valley 2005 vintage Cabernet Sauvignon bottle of wine etched with the 2007 NHL All-Star and Teammates for Kids logos from the Miner Family Winery in Oakville, Calif.; an NHL All-Star prize package that includes a tour of the Eastern Conference and Western Conference All-Star locker rooms for two plus two tickets to the NHL All-Star Game; a trip for two to the 2008 NHL All-Star Celebration in Atlanta, including airfare and hotel accommodations; and a Dodge Nitro.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Garth Brooks Teammates For Kids Foundation, the official children’s charity of the NHLPA and the NHL. The partnership focuses on the Top Shelf Teammates program, which contributes financial resources to non-profit organizations that benefit children's health, education and inner-city services. Since its inception in 2005, NHL players have donated more than $1.5 million.
