New Interview: LaME.

It ain't easy being LaME., or so I'm told. Claiming to be a hated local band and coming off of what sounds like an irritating process to finalize their debut album, Nothing Ever Works, are apparently just a couple of the things they have to bitch about (of course, when you name your band lame...).
But it seems like these guys are just being a little too hard on themselves. Most albums are difficult to put together, but not all of them come out sounding as good as Nothing Ever Works (yes, I actually have listened to parts of it... the free parts on MySpace). And, well LaME., a couple of your members do not exactly censor their disdain for other area bands. So is there any wonder why some people might not like you? But who cares? Are those people playing at the Ridglea Theater on February 3 in a send-off show sponsored by ScreamForMeDallas? Doubtful. In fact, damn near impossible. So I will draw the conclusion, as strong or weak as it may be, that LaMe. hasn't got it too bad after all.
Some of the things we talked about in this crazy, convoluted interview:
- How LaME. came to be
- The torturous road to creating their debut album
- The DFW metal (and rock) scene and LaME.'s favorite local bands
- Their show at the Ridglea Theater and the upcoming showcase in NYC
- Furthering band stereotypes
- And a ton of other random topics that occur when you get six band members in a room whose favorite pastime is ragging on each other

The Magnetic Fields Quartet led by songwriter Stephen Merritt is resolutely "indie" so how come their music has been used in a Volvo commercial and appeared in the film Lemony Snicket? More info

Ah, that's some good old fashioned self-deprecation. Just so you know, the New York showcase is a follow-up to the one in Denton last October. There will be a more formal press release closer to the event once we have more details confirmed. Suffice to say, it's on the calendar of some very important people.

Yes, thank you. You are absolutely right. A better journalist would have mentioned that in her article.
