Plano-based Bennigan’s menu to promote items prepared in zero trans fat oil
PLANO Bennigan's Grill & Tavern has announced that its next menu, to be released in April, will promote that items are cooked in zero trans fat oil. The dining chain converted its 270+ domestic units to zero trans fat oil over the past year.
“The culinary decision to adopt a healthier cooking regimen at Bennigan’s was made long before the national push to ban trans fats that is making headlines today,” said Clay Dover, executive vice president and chief concept officer for Metromedia Casual Dining. “And in light of recent public interest, it was important for Bennigan’s to let consumers know about the change."
Since 1976, Bennigan’s has been offering customers a diverse food and drink menu with an Irish influence in a classic grill & tavern setting. Headquartered in Plano, Texas, Bennigan’s has over 310 locations in 10 countries, and is owned by Metromedia Restaurant Group (MRG). Other MRG concepts include Steak and Ale, Ponderosa Steakhouse, Bonanza Steakhouse and The Plano Tavern. No word yet on whether these other chains will follow Bennigan's lead.
