Photo Gallery: Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center’s Mission Impossible scavenger hunt raises $185,000 to fight child abuse
The Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center (DCAC), Dallas County’s leader in the prevention and treatment of child abuse, hosted its second annual Mission Impossible scavenger hunt back on November 18th at the Dallas World Aquarium. The event, which directly benefited DCAC and raised a total of $185,000, took more than 300 thrill-seeking community members on a global hunt within the Aquarium all in the fight to prevent child abuse crimes.
The evening combined pulse-racing, mind-bending activities that challenged participants’ skills and creativity. From brain-teasing riddles to building objects, teams of six took part in a scavenger hunt within the Aquarium. In addition, secret agents and adventure seekers were served dinner and drinks throughout the evening and after completing the mission an underground rave capped off the night.
Sponsors for the event included:
$15,000 – Metroplex Garden Design Landscaping
$10, 000 – Park Place Volvo, The Jess Merkle Foundation, Wells Fargo, Ellen and Don Williams
$5,000 – Cresa Partners Dallas, Greenberg Traurig, LLP, Maverick Capital Charities, Parallel Investment Partners, LP, Caren Prothro, Judith Williams
$2,500 - Baker Botts LLP, Jennifer and John Eagle, Heather and Bill Esping, Haynes and Boone, LLP, Susan and Brandon Hoag, Kline Family Foundation, Tracey and Aaron Kozmetsky, Mary Kay, Inc., Gary and Minda Moor, Karen and Richard Pollock, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, Catherine and Will Rose, Thompson & Knight Foundation Westwood Trust
As the only Dallas County program that breaks the cycle of abuse through involvement from a team of agencies that provide a coordinated approach to the investigation, intervention, and treatment of child sexual and physical abuse, the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center provides a safe, child-friendly environment where treatment is individualized to meet each person’s emotional, psychological and developmental needs.
“The Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center is dedicated to fulfilling our mission of not only treating child victims of physical and sexual abuse, but also to stopping the cycle of abuse before it even begins,” said Lynn Davis, CEO of the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center. “Our annual Mission Impossible event provides a fun, interactive way for the Dallas community to support our mission, while also enjoying a truly exciting evening.”
