UNT Dallas campus unveils new jaguar mascot and colors
The University of North Texas at Dallas unveiled its gold and blue colors and jaguar mascot in a ceremony with Lee F. Jackson, chancellor of the UNT System, and Dr. John Price, UNT vice provost for the Dallas Campus.
UNT Dallas will adopt the new brand and images even though it will continue to serve its students through the degree-granting authority of UNT in Denton until the new University of North Texas at Dallas is established.
More than 100 branding-project participants deliberated over dozens of potential mascots, a palate of color schemes and many typographic options.
The new graphics will be featured on all UNT Dallas Campus publications, letterheads, business cards, signage, advertising and clothing.
In presenting the new marks and images, Jackson said, "These dynamic branding marks represent the visualization and verbalization of how this vital and growing campus will represent itself. The brand for UNT Dallas represents a unique identity for this campus that will become a separate university in the years ahead. The marks are designed to encourage public awareness of the unique qualities of the institution."
When enrollment at the Dallas campus reaches 1,000 full-time students, the UNT system will begin the process of establishing the new university. The UNT system seeks to open UNT at Dallas as an accredited university by fall 2009.
