Residents near White Rock Lake holding noses over sewage runoff
P.S. - It's still cold outside. Just want to make that clear.
Alrighty, there was a big stink before it got really cold. Fox4 called it "a geyser of smelly, raw sewage" that flowed into a creek after the rains this past weekend. It's been an ongoing problem that's finally gotten the attention of Dallas City Hall. Will it be taken care of this time?
OK, we poke fun at reporter Jeff there. But on a serious note, no one else in town is talking about this persistent putrescence.

Just a thought ... If Pegasus News is trying to establish itself as a credible news source, maybe someone could have chosen a better lead-story illustration today? Are you trying to attract a demographic that thinks Quick is too serious and old school?

Hey Kirk, We try to put out a credible product and have fun at the same time. We are certainly sorry anytime our humor is not shared by our readers. Hopefully you'll enjoy tomorrow's lead art better. But we are gonna keep having fun.

Maybe the city of Dallas can prevent the poop from flowing into the creek every time it rains? Which is worse, the actual event or the illustration that caught your attention to the problem?

Hi, Alan. I think a lot of what I've seen so far is great, hip, smart and, yes, fun. But you probably wouldn't choose a screenshot of Kenny getting killed to illustrate a murder story, would you? Leave Mr. Hankey alone, in the South Park Season Two DVD where he belongs.

Blair:
The story was a good one, and I read it in spite of the illustration. The illustration wouldn't have made it past the editorial sniff test (yeah, I intended that) at a second-rate college newspaper.

Every day I thank Baby Vishnu that we're not a second-rate college newspaper.

Kirk, the sniff test line was genius, I'm a sucker for a good pun.
Really do appreciate the criticism. I understand where you are coming from, but at the same time I truly don't equate making a joke about the smell of poo to making a joke about murder.
That said, I guarantee we will take the criticism seriously.

I've worked at a second-rate college newspaper before and prefer to work here. I posted the picture. Feel free to direct your ire my way.

Blair: No ire, I promise. I just think that when readers click on you for the "real poop," it shouldn't be such a literal experience.
