Archaeologist adds to biblical history at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary
Steven M. Ortiz revived the school's archeology program, which had been discontinued for years.
Interesting read from the Southern Baptist Texan about Steven M. Ortiz. The archaeologist is helping make history more tangible for students at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, as well as add to the understanding of the Bible.
Hurricane Katrina sent Ortiz and his family to live with relatives in Grapevine. He found a teaching position at the seminary and eventually revived the school's archeology program, which had been discontinued for years.
“I hope we will be the next training center for biblical archaeology, at least in the SBC and in the evangelical world,” Ortiz says in the story, “and to be a major player in our field of research.”
