PLANO EDS, a leader in providing Medicaid services to states, has been awarded a $91.7 million contract extension to continue providing fiscal agent services to the state of Kansas. The contract was awarded to EDS at the end of the fourth quarter of 2006.
The Kansas Health Policy Authority exercised its first three-year option on the contract, extending the agreement with EDS until June 30, 2011.
The original $160 million, six-year agreement, announced Feb. 1, 2002, called for EDS to transform the administrative and operational processes that support the state's Medicaid program.
Approximately 300,000 Kansans receive services each month from the 19,000 health care providers that participate in the state's Medicaid program.
EDS is the nation's largest provider of Medicaid and Medicare process management services, administering $95 billion in benefits a year. EDS processes about 1 billion Medicaid claims a year, far more than any other company, and provides fiscal agent services/Medicaid Management Information System support in 20 states.
