Albertsons to close McKinney store
Albertsons is closing six more stores in Dallas-Fort Worth and a total of 11 statewide.
MCKINNEY Albertsons is closing their store located at 1701 W. University in McKinney, as well as five more stores in Dallas-Fort Worth and a total of 11 statewide.
The store in McKinney was underperforming, said Jennifer Vroman, a spokeswoman for Albertsons.
After earlier closings around DFW in 2006, some of the stores were able to become profitable again, but others were not as successful. In June, Albertsons closed 11 underperforming Albertson's' stores in Dallas-Fort Worth. In August, it shuttered its Super Saver subsidiary, which also operated 11 stores in Dallas-Fort Worth.
Following the closings, which are expected to occur by March 11, there will be 71 stores in Dallas-Fort Worth and 93 in Texas.
The closings will affect about 450 employees locally and about 900 statewide.
