Four Farmers Branch lifeguards participated in competition June 28 - 29
FARMERS BRANCH Four of the lifeguards from the City of Farmers Branch competed in the North Texas Guard Games June 29 and 30 in Irving, Texas. The competition is held annually at different cities around the Metroplex. The City of Farmers Branch hosted the games in 2005. Twenty-seven teams of two males and two females from cities as far as the Woodlands, Texas competed in seven different events including First Aid, Scanning, Spinal, CPR, Fitness, an Obstacle Course and a Scenario event.
The Farmers Branch team, "Risk Management," placed sixth overall and received a first place medal in the Spinal event. The lifeguards competing were Lena Waters (third year lifeguard), John Baxter (first year lifeguard), Alisha McCormick (fifth year lifeguard) and Stephen Holcombe (second year lifeguard). The 2008 games will take place in Lewisville.
