Fort Worth police officer accused of indecency with child
Late Thursday evening, investigators with the Fort Worth Police Crimes Against Children Unit arrested a 22-year-old Fort Worth police officer after he was identified as the suspect in an Indecency with a Child investigation. The arrest came after detectives received an outcry report from the family of a 9-year-old female child, who claimed she had been fondled during the off-duty officer’s overnight stay at the family’s Fort Worth home back in June. The offense occurred when the suspect reportedly entered the victim’s bedroom and touched her in an inappropriate manner, amounting to sexual contact through her clothing while she slept. The victim awoke to see the suspect standing over her, but waited until he left the next morning before telling her parents about the incident. The parents then notified Fort Worth Police.
Crimes Against Children detectives informed Internal Affairs after they developed their suspect and learned he was a Fort Worth Police officer. After investigating the case and determining the elements for the crime were present, detectives obtained a warrant for the suspect’s arrest.
Officer David R. Babb, ID #3586, was arrested on a charge of Indecency with a Child – amounting to inappropriate contact of a sexual nature and was accompanied by his attorney, Bill Lane, when he surrendered to authorities late yesterday evening at the Tarrant County Sheriff’s bonding desk. Babb posted a $10,000 bond and was released, pending the Tarrant County District Attorney accepting the case and presenting the matter for trial.
Since being identified as a suspect in the investigation, Babb was placed on Restricted Duty in a desk assignment. He will remain restricted from duty until such time as a Tarrant County Grand Jury reviews the matter. If indicted, Babb could be temporarily suspended without pay from the police department until final disposition of his criminal case, at which time the Chief of Police will have up to 30 days with which to make a decision regarding the officer’s continued employment status with the department.
The officer has been employed by the Fort Worth Police Department for just over one year.

SOFAT, says:
So, if she was asleep, how does she know that there was contact? This story actually sounds familiar. Wasn't there one recently where a boy accussed a man of the same?
