Local environmental group “Wake Up Dallas” sees global warming as extraterrestrial struggle (interview included)

28

At first you would think that "Wake Up Dallas" is merely an environmentalist group working within the Metroplex to raise awareness for global warming.

They've got a grass-roots campaign: They have rented billboards on I-75 (the first one facing southbound, the current one facing northbound), which proclaimed the words: "SAVE THE PLANET." They have placed an ad in the Dallas Morning News (at left). They host regular gatherings at the Half-Price bookstore on Northwest Highway. And the first sentence on their website, wakeupdallas.org, talks about the "ecological imbalance" of our world.

But, if you look just a smidge closer, it's apparent WakeUpDallas is not your average gaggle of eco-minded citizens. While their aim is the same—to voice concern for the Earth's plight and mankind's contribution toward it—several of their ideas are a little . . . unconventional:

 1. They believe aliens, referred to as "Space Brothers," exist, and that they are here to help us save the Earth from destruction
 2. They believe that crop circles are signs of the Space Brothers' existence
 3. They believe a figure (the deity of all deities) named Maitreya will save the Earth when it is ready, and that this figure is already living on Earth in London, awaiting the moment to begin his purpose

Maybe these ideas seem plausible to you. Or maybe they sound like a steaming pile of crap. Either way, they raise lots of questions, and there's something to be gained from having a member of the group answer them. (After all, these guys might be coming to a book or grocery store near you sometime).

National and international ties

Most of the writing and content WakeUpDallas disseminates, on their site and through their fliers, comes from Share International Magazine, a monthly non-profit publication founded and co-edited by British author Benjamin Creme.

According to their official website, Share International has offices in Amsterdam, London, and Los Angeles, and has a circulation of roughly 70 countries.

Additionally, other international publications—including Tara Press (UK), Share International USA, Tara Canada, Share Japan, Editions Tetraeder (Germany), Share Ediciones (Spain), and Partage International (France)—"work co-operatively" with Share International to "present one message."

While Mr. Creme asserts that he does not receive any direct money from his work with the magazine, in the interview below Nancy says that the WakeUpDallas group does make voluntary "donations to the local group’s funds as well as the national group’s funds" to promote outreach across the country.

WakeUpDallas hosted a screening of the film Crop Circles: Quest for Truth At Half-Price books last month. I stopped by and exchanged information with a woman named Nancy McClellan, a licensed chiropractor, Dallas resident and member of WakeUpDallas. I told her I had a slew of questions to ask her. And she obliged:

PEGNEWS: Who, exactly, is Maitreya?

NANCY MCCLELLAN: He has been expected for generations by all of the major religions. Christians know him as the Christ, and expect his imminent return. Jews await him as the Messiah; Hindus look for the coming of Krishna; Buddhists expect him as Maitreya Buddha; and Muslims anticipate the Imam Mahdi or Messiah.

Although the names are different, many believe that they all refer to the same individual: the World Teacher, whose personal name is Maitreya (pronounced my-tray-ah).

PEGNEWS: And what is his purpose?

NM: Preferring to be known simply as "the Teacher," Maitreya has not come as a religious leader, or to found a new religion, but as a teacher and guide for people of every religion and those of no religion.

At this time of great political, economic and social crisis Maitreya will inspire humanity to see itself as one family, and create a civilization based on sharing, economic and social justice, and global cooperation.

He will launch a call to action to save the millions of people who starve to death every year in a world of plenty. Among Maitreya's recommendations will be a shift in social priorities so that adequate food, housing, clothing, education, and medical care become universal rights.

Under Maitreya's inspiration, humanity itself will make the required changes and create a saner and more just world for all.

PEGNEWS: Do you, like Benjamin Creme, believe that Maitreya is currently living on Earth in London? Why is he here already, and what is he doing?

A good way to get the word out, and a safety hazard as well." class="gallery">A Dallas Flickr.com user snapped this pic of a WUD member's tricked out Mazda. A Dallas Flickr.com user snapped this pic of a WUD member's tricked out Mazda. A good way to get the word out, and a safety hazard as well.

NM: I do. Maitreya has never left. He has an ashram in the Pakistani Himalayas, but His current center is in London. He appears to world leaders, people of influence and people in need all the time. This is one of the ways He is preparing humanity for His open return. He can appear any time or place of His choosing and does so at many events presented by the people who form our network. He appeared to three of us shortly before the Half Price Books event, which is why the event had such a special feel to it, in my opinion.

His outward mission will begin when He sees that enough people are ready and willing to listen to His suggestions.

PEGNEWS: Is Maitreya supposed to be one and the same as Christ, Buddha, and Allah, or is he a distinct deity unto his own?

NM: All the great religions of the world do have much in common, including the fact that they await the return of their great Teacher. The Bible points to this: John 10:16: “I have other sheep that are not of this flock. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.”

Maitreya is the Teacher for the Age of Aquarius and will fulfill the role of the expected Teacher for all groups. However, he is not a religious teacher. He is a spiritual Teacher. There is a difference.

PEGNEWS: How did Benjamin Creme start believing in Maitreya? What prompted him to have the ideas he has now?

NM: In Benjamin Creme’s first book, The Reappearance of the Christ and the Masters of Wisdom, he describes the spiritual trajectory of his life. It is a very interesting read.

Benjamin Creme is an artist of note and comes out of the intellectual circles of London. He had long studied the esoteric works of Alice A. Bailey and H.P. Blavatsky and was approached one day by a fellow student who told him that the Masters were trying to contact him, but he was not receptive. Eventually he was able to respond and over many years, he and the one he calls his Master have developed a moment–to-moment telepathic contact. This has been a wonderful gift for the groups such as ours around the world; to know that a Senior Member of Hierarchy has been available to answer our questions.

By the way, I have read that Einstein and Edison always had a copy of Blavatsky’s Isis Unveiled on their desks and that there is a long-standing Blavatsky study group at MIT.

PEGNEWS: How are you and other WakeUpDallas volunteers related to Justice4Peace.org, Share International, Benjamin Creme, etc.?

NM: The Dallas group is responsible for both Wakeupdallas.org and justice4peace.org. They were started as a means of getting our message out in a somewhat complacent city.

PEGNEWS: Are you guys an independent group? Are there other similar groups working in other cities with the same goals as yours?

There are hundreds of groups all across the US and around the world: Japan, Europe, Israel, Africa, Mexico, South America. There are eight groups in Texas: San Antonio, Austin, Dallas, Arlington, Carrollton, Copeville and Vega.

PEGNEWS: Do you receive any financial support from Benjamin Creme or Share International? If not, you guys must have some decent money to rent out billboards, etc.

NM: Benjamin Creme accepts no remuneration for his work with this outreach. We each donate what we can to the local group’s funds as well as the national group’s funds, which are used to promote outreach across the country.

PEGNEWS: How many members does WakeUpDallas have? And how did you find each other?

NM: We are 10-12 in number and we each found the group in different ways, many amusing, but all sufficiently compelling to make this a very important part of our lives. We have a unique bond based on this very unusual experience we are sharing. It helps that we all like to laugh.

We are a meditation group. We do Transmission Meditation three times a week. We give an introduction to Transmission Meditation at 7:30pm the 3rd Friday of each month, in the Community Room of Half Price Books on Northwest Highway. It is an informal way for people to give it a try.

PEGNEWS: If you don't mind me asking, how does your family (children? husband?) feel about your beliefs?

NM: My family is perfectly comfortable with the story by now and have come to accept it as truth. They are not involved on a personal level, but look to Share International Magazine and share-international.org for updates and guidance on issues. They have found it to be a source of comfort in these confusing times. Considering the world’s current situation, it really is very comforting to know that someone of Maitreya’s stature is on the case.

PEGNEWS: Who are the Space Brothers, and how do we know they have made contact with us?

NM: Space Brothers are from other planets (all within our solar system) who are, and have been since the 1940’s (that we know of) concerned that humanity may destroy all life on this beautiful planet through one of two means: nuclear war or environmental destruction. They work to limit and “mop up” the nuclear radiation which is poisoning the planet.

WakeUpDallas Terminology

On WakeUpDallas.org, a lot of different terms are used but not really explained. Examples include an "Elder Brother," a "Teacher" and a "Master." Ms. McClellan explains the difference:

Maitreya has referred to Himself as our Elder Brother: a more experienced member of a family that one would look to for advice or guidance. Though He occupies the office of “The Christ‘, He prefers to be called ‘The Teacher’ and sees Himself as such. He is the “Teacher alike of angels and men”; He is here for those of all religions and those of no religion at all.

As the Christ, He anchors the divine energy of love on our planet. Maitreya is so unique in His purity that He is humanity’s highest achievement.

The term ‘Master’ refers to members of our planet’s Spiritual Hierarchy, all of whom have ‘mastered’ or learned all the school of life has to teach, and have no further need for reincarnation. They are the Saints. History’s most noted people have gone on, with time, to become Masters. They are Masters only of Themselves and work to help guide humanity along its path.

They are the inspiration behind all really new inventions, progressive movements which improve our lives, inspired artistic expression in music, painting and architecture, scientific and technological breakthroughs. Beethoven, Leonardo DaVinci, Madam Curie and Abraham Lincoln are all now great Masters.

And each of us will become Masters too, one day.

According to Benjamin Creme’s Master, nuclear power plants are the causes of early onset Alzheimers, cancers and much of the autism (one in 150 children in the US today is autistic). Every person, animal and plant on Earth is now sick from the toxins spewing from the relatively few nuclear power plants we have today. Yet there is a huge push to build more, based on a false assumption that nuclear power is “green”. It is in fact deadly. The Geiger Counter has never been updated since the 1940’s. It is so crude that it cannot detect or measure the finer, more deadly levels of radiation which cause the most severe illnesses.

PEGNEWS: Why do the Space Brothers-want to help our planet? What's in it for them?

NM: According to our information, most of the spaceships are from Venus, a planet which is evolved far beyond our level. I don’t believe there is a concept such as, “what’s in it for them” at Their level of evolution. They must be very troubled watching a young neighboring planet veer so close to death, an event not of benefit to the solar system. The Space Brothers know that we are all one, interconnected and interdependent whole. They are trying to teach us.

PEGNEWS: How will we know when Maitreya has come? What does he look like? What will be the signs to look for?

NM: Maitreya will begin His open work by appearing on an as yet unnamed television network. He will simply be a man of uncommon wisdom, urging mankind to make sane decisions in this delicate and perilous time. His call for sanity and action will become more trenchant. Finally, we will respond.

He says, “We will skirt the abyss.” As in the Bible following the crucifixion, Maitreya can appear in any guise.

You will recognize Him through the unique quality of the experience. Neither Maitreya nor any of the Masters will infringe human free will. The personal experiences of Maitreya and/or the Master Jesus reported in the Letters to the Editor section of Share International magazine describe experiences which are uniformly uplifting, enlightening, comforting and, in some cases, healing and protecting. The Masters are the “angels” which so many people report meeting.

We used to wonder why Ben would always bring up the Space Brothers in his lectures. As you say, it’s a hard enough tale to tell without adding that aspect!

Now we know. Maitreya’s first lesson for humanity will be to make the fact of Space Brothers presence completely undeniable. The Bible refers to Christ returning surrounded by “Heavenly Hosts”, and most people assumed it to mean angels – what else were we to think? Way back then even, He had something else in mind. He is so clever and has such style; what an entrance!

As is said in the Master’s message “Gathering of the Forces of Light”:

Important events are taking place in many parts of the world. People everywhere will be astonished by the reports. These will include sightings, in unprecedented numbers, of spacecraft from our neighboring planets, Mars and Venus in particular. Nothing like this increased activity, over vast areas of the Earth, will have been seen before. Those who have steadfastly refused to take seriously the reality of this phenomenon will find it difficult to deny. More and more accounts of contact with the occupants of the spacecraft will add their testimony to the fact of their existence. Miraculous happenings of all kinds will continue and multiply in number and variety. The minds of men will be baffled and amazed by these wonders, and this will cause them to ponder deeply.

Into this wonder-filled, wondering world Maitreya will quietly enter and begin His open work. He will be asked to counter their doubts and fears, to explain these happenings and He will vouchsafe their validity. These extraordinary events will continue unabated and cause many to prophesy the ending of the world. Maitreya, however, will continue in His simple way and interpret differently these events. Thus will Maitreya encourage men to see the marvelous breadth and scope of life, the many layers of which man knows but little ‘til now.

I first heard of this in 1982 and used to wonder why Maitreya would return as a Pakistani when He could choose any nationality. The answer is so obvious now and is another example of His foresight and wisdom.

PEGNEWS: You've got to admit, all of this won't make sense to the average person. How do you hope to overcome the skepticism of the average person in order to spread your message?

NM: Our job is simply to get the message out not to convince anyone or judge anyone. Each person, “singly and solemnly alone” must decide for himself or herself.

PEGNEWS: If people fail to grasp your group's message, will the benefits of the "Age of Aquarius" still come, or will we doom ourselves?

NM: Nothing can or will stop the precession of the equinoxes. The Age of Aquarius has already begun. My personal belief is that, without help from above (and beyond) we would very likely fail and doom the Earth to destruction. People here in the States have very little clue as to how badly damaged the Earth already is. I may well be wrong, but we’re late in waking up to our problems.

It is said that the 300 years or so before and after a shift from one age to another is always chaotic. Some will cling to the old ways while others respond quickly to the new

The concepts of the Aquarian Age need to be introduced so that people will understand them: brotherhood, sharing Earth’s resources so that everyone will have the basic necessities of life: food, shelter, healthcare and education as human rights.

PEGNEWS: What will be different about the world when the Age of Aquarius comes?

NM: Everything will be different. Science is now on the verge of literally bursting with new inventions which will remove drudgery from human life, health care will become so advanced that surgeries will be replaced by an afternoon at a clinic to receive, say, a new pancreas of your own genetic structure.

People will not be able to believe we were ever the barbarians we are today. Life is intended to be creative, and it will be a time of unimaginable creativity.

And I thought you could just find used stuff @ Half Price Books!

This is all well and good, but what do the crop circles say? They look cool, sure, but couldn't Maitreya shed some light on what it means?

Guess I'll have to wait and see him on Fox News for more...

What I gather is that WUD sees crop circles as signs of the presence of the Space Brothers, who are here to help our planet. As for what each one actually "says," I have no idea, until we find someone who speaks extraterrestrial. I only took Spanish.

The late Kirsty MacColl had a great, great song (also a UK Top 20 hit) called "There's A Guy Works Down The Chip Shop Swears He's Elvis." I bet it's the same guy who thinks he's Maitreya.

 • Just like you swore to me that you'd be true

I haven't got anything in mind, but an explication of most religious/philosophical beliefs would sound as novel or unique as these. (Think about the trinity, transubstantiation or the immaculate conception in Christianity. Or a "personal relationship with Jesus Christ" if your tastes are less catholic.)

I guess my real question, though, is, Why do these beliefs merit the lead position on the Pegasus website?

I did some reading at their web site - and gather that the "space brothers" are thousands of years more evolved than we are and that they are NOT going to save us, rather they're helping prevent us from destroying ourselfs. Their Crop circle FAQ (link below) says in part:

"What the Space People are doing in the crop circles in particular is recreating to a certain degree the ‘grid’ of our earth’s magnetic field on the physical plane. Each of these crop circles is a chakra, as it were, a vortex of magnetic energy, and they are spreading out around the world, having started in England. They were dismissed in the first place, as always, by the sceptics... They are all ‘ideograms’, and if you were familiar with the ‘ideography’ of ancient Atlantis you would recognize some of them. They are meant not to be recognized as to their meaning but that they do have a meaning, and many people will ‘untuit’ these. They are a reminder of the ancient connection with the Space Brothers."

Chad, thanks for presenting this in a thorough way. I first heard this story 19 years ago--just before the collapse of the Berlin Wall and the demise of totalitarian regimes in Eastern Europe as a result of popular civil movements. Then came the release of Nelson Mandela, the end of apartheid and the first democratically held elections in South Africa--without the deluge of violence that was expected. We also saw the process of detante occuring between countries that had once cut off diplomatic ties. Remember the Peace Dividend? All these events happened in such quick succession that one rather august media outlet declared, "Peace is breaking out all over".

Today all of that seems rather quaint as our world stands in far greater peril. Yet this unique message has not gone the way of Milli Vanilli--indeed, on close inspection it's more relevant than ever.

Let the cynics have their say--they'll still benefit from a transformed world.

I'd enjoy more alternative type stories like this, which point to viewpoints that arent spoon-fed to us by the media titans who would like to control our thoughts.

Interestingly enough, about one and half years ago I had a dream from which I awoke. I wrote down this: "Maitreya - coming back?" I had never heard of this group, Ben Creme or anyone associated with this movement at that time. Interesting.

"We've had many reports of people seeing quite large unidentified objects in the skies. It's not going away, It seems these incidents are becoming more bold. "People don't know what to do when they witness such sights and that's what we're here for. We take the reports very seriously."...
