Latino Cultural Center hosts 4th annual “Made in Dallas” exhibition
DALLAS The Latino Cultural Center presents Hecho en Dallas/Made in Dallas, an annual juried exhibition of Dallas-area artists. In its 4th year, Hecho en Dallas/Made in Dallas features 11 talented artists from the Metroplex: Ivonne Acero, Adián Aguirre, Miguel Casanova, Gary Grogan, Juan Hernández, Rubén Miranda, Sharon Neel-Bagley, Andrew Ortiz, Giraud Polité, Steve Riley and Orawin Rungisnan. The exhibition features recent artworks in a variety of mediums, including photography and printmaking.
Hecho en Dallas/Made in Dallas 2007 opens on Thursday, July 19, at 5:30 p.m. and will run through Saturday, August 19. Gallery hours are Tuesday-Saturday 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend an opening reception with the artists hosted by the Friends of the Latino Cultural Center, on Thursday, July 19 starting at 5:30 pm.
Hecho en Dallas/Made in Dallas Exhibit is an annual juried exhibition that showcases recent work by professional artists who reside and are active in the artistic environment of Dallas area. The exhibition was conceived by the Latino Cultural Center in recognition of the talented pool of artists whose creative endeavors give vitality to the cultural movement in Greater Dallas. For the 2007 edition of this annual exhibition, the guest jurors reviewed 64 applications and selected the eleven artists for the exhibition. Serving as jurors were Mark Roglán, Ph.D., director of the Meadows Museum at Southern Methodist University, independent curator Stephen Vollmer, and artists Viola Delgado and Celia Álvarez Muñoz.
The mission of the Latino Cultural Center is to serve as a catalyst for the preservation, development, and promotion of Latino arts and culture in Dallas.
