School namesake and new principal to tour Mansfield’s new elementary school

On Thursday, July 12 Carol Holt, an esteemed former Mansfield ISD [MISD] employee, will get her first look at the inside of the school that will hold her name on a private tour. Holt Elementary School Principal Kelly Campbell and his staff will lead the tour.

In September 2006, the MISD officially announced the name of the district's nineteenth elementary school to be Carol Holt.

Carol Holt taught for 26 years, and 21 of those years were spent with MISD. She taught resource classes first through fifth grade, special education and was an assistant principal. Holt was also the principal at Charlotte Anderson elementary when the school was the district's first exemplary campus. During her leadership, Anderson became the first school to be named Exemplary in the District. Holt retired from the district in 1999.

Kelly Campbell has been with MISD since 1995. He started out as a Language Arts teacher at T.A. Howard Middle School. Then moved on to Cross Timbers Intermediate School to serve as the Department Coordinator of Language Arts. Previously, Campbell was the Assistant Principal at Roberta Tipps Elementary School. Campbell received his Bachelor of Science in Education at the University of Missouri in 1994.

In 2001, he received his Masters of Education in Educational Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington. Some of

Campbell’s contributions and activities include: serving on the City of Mansfield Public Library Advisory Board from 2006 to present day and helping organize a Dads Club in 1999 to 2001 and in 2005 to present day. He is a five-time MISD Education Foundation grant winner, and has contributed to six additional winning grants.

The district's opening ceremony for Holt Elementary School will be Sunday, August 26, at 1:00 p.m. The school will open its doors to students August 27.
