Sports racers gather for 7th Annual Texas Autocross weekend at UTA & Texas Motor Speedway
Collegiate racing teams from across the United States will participate in Texas Autocross Weekend events conducted at the University of Texas at Arlington and at Texas Motor Speedway Saturday, July 14. Started seven years ago by UT Arlington Mechanical Engineering Professor Bob Woods as an event for collegiate racing teams from Texas and Oklahoma, the Texas Autocross Weekend has since grown both in size and stature. Saturday, collegiate teams from Texas, Alabama, Kansas, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota and other locations will be practicing on the south parking lot at UT Arlington and will be timed by a local autocross club, Equipe Rapide. Competitions will begin around 10 a.m. These cars are designed and built by college students for the Society of Automotive Engineers’ Formula SAE competition held annually in Detroit and around the world.
