Lots of Dallas demolitions happening lately
Farewell to the UA Cine.
DALLAS Got the following heads-up from Scott Dorn on Friday:
"The United Artist Cine Theater will be torn down in the coming day to make way for possible remote parking for The new Bush library or new dorms."
"Also demolishiion is occuring on the main street section streching from Ervay, to Main Street along, as demo crews begin the park project across from the Mercantile building. The pink building off Cole near 75 is finally having it's pink tiles removed as that building get a major renovation. There another building demo going on at Swiss Ave near Baylor hospital; that building was a old grocery store."
I'll add to that my old house and its siblings -- the four "Monopoly houses" (yellow, blue, pink and gray) that were on Worthington Street near Thomas in Uptown. To my dismay, I learned last night that they'd been leveled recently, presumably to rectify the shameful lack of townhome and condo properties in that neighborhood.
