The TCU women's rifle team was well represented this past week at the NRA National Smallbore Rifle Championships in Camp Perry, Ohio. Erin Lorenzen and Tanya Gorin both competed and earned high finishes in their events. Lorenzen was crowned Collegiate Champion and selected to compete in the Drew Cup International Postal Rifle Match, while Gorin finished third in the Sharpshooter Junior class.

Lorenzen shot a 2,188-47 in the match and was awarded the Volunteer Trophy Plaque and a gold tone national champion medallion. She is one of just 11 shooters to be selected to the Drew Cup team which is made up of shooters ages 20 and under. She was selected based on her score in the prone position of the National NRA 3-position Smallbore Rifle Championshps.

The Drew Cup is a British National Smallbore Rifle Association (NSRA) postal match fired annually by teams of junior rifle shooters from English-speaking nations. Teams fire the English Match course of 60 shots prone at 50 meters under International Shooting Sports Federation rules. A postal match means that matches are shot at different locations and times, and the targets are mailed to the NSRA where scores are verified and winners are announced. The Drew Cup memorializes the service and dedication of British shooter William Drew, a member of NSRA and secretary of the London Transport Rifle Club from mid-World War I until the end of World War II.

Armed with her third-place finish, Gorin, who shot a 2146-45 in the event, will return to Camp Perry, Ohio later this week to compete in the Highpower Rifle Championships.

Lorenzen will be a sophomore next season, while Gorin will be a junior.
