Three teenage “Christian radicals” indicted over failed arson at Burleson church

3

Three teens accused in a failed attempt to light an explosive at a church in Burleson have been indicted by a federal grand jury.

Dallas officials say all three suspects—19-year-old Dayton Lee Calaway, 18-year-old Michael Philip Plaisted Junior and 18-year-old Jered Michael Ragon—are from Burleson.

Each is charged with one count of possession of an unregistered firearm—a destructive device prosecutors say was similar to a Molotov cocktail.

Victory Family Church, located at 129 NW Ellison Street, was under construction at the time of the incident. No one was hurt.

The Cleburne Times-Review reports that the teens haved identified themselves as a group of radical Christian activists who are united by their belief that society "has become too focused on self-improvement and self-gratification" and who aim "to wake up society by committing destructive acts."

They're looking at ten years and a $10,000 fine, if convicted.
