House of Blues Gospel Brunch starts June 3

The world famous Gospel Brunch begins this Sunday, June 3 at the House of Blues in Dallas. Each week the gospel-inspired entertainment will change, but the food stays delicious (I said it before and I'll say it again, the biscuits and gravy at that place are to die for). Here's the schedule for June:

2 Seatings Every Sunday – 10:00 am & 12:30 pm

Tickets are on sale at the HOB box office or by calling 214-978-BLUE.

Adults: $34

Children 5 to 12 years of age: $14

Children 4 and Under: Free (still requires a ticket)

Advance tickets are recommended as there is limited seating for each show.

Gospel Brunch began at the original House of Blues in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1992. On the first day that the venue opened for business a gospel band performed, and the venue provided a brunch buffet for the area’s homeless. To this day, every House of Blues club commemorates this service by hosting a special Gospel Brunch on Thanksgiving Day to feed the homeless in their communities. All HOB employees are invited to work that day on a volunteer basis, and much of the food and beverage is provided by donations.

According to the HOB main website, the menu features all of the following: Cornbread muffins with maple butter, pecan caramel sticky buns, cheese-filled tortellini salad with smoked salmon, capers, red onions and pear tomatoes, traditional Caesar salad, hickory smoked bacon and sausage links, homemade biscuits and country gravy, breakfast potatoes with sautéed onions and peppers, homemade waffles, omelet station, southern fried chicken, homemade macaroni and cheese, creole chicken and shrimp jambalaya, carved smoked turkey breast with prime rib of beef, white chocolate walnut brownies, homemade fruit cobbler and white chocolate banana bread pudding.

Don't forget your mimosas - essential. I've been to the HOB gospel brunches in New Orleans and in Cambridge, I must say the one in New Orleans was outstanding. I hope to get down to the one here in Dallas soon !

Nuthin' says "gospel" in N'Awlins 'cept a Bloody Bloody w/ a pickled green bean, a softshell crab po'boy and a side a red beans & rice. Done too many times to count.
