Treadwell's hiring followed the naming of current DeSoto School's Superintendent Alton L. Frailey as the new superintendent of the Katy School District, located outside of Houston, earlier this month.

Treadwell was the interim prior to Frailey being named the sole finalist in 2005. In addition, the school board voted to hire Arrow Educational Services, Inc. to conduct its superintendent search. Arrow was the company that found Frailey during the previous process.

Treadwell has held previous superintendent posts at several districts including Springtown, Huntington, Mansfield and Commerce school districts, as well as experience in campus administration and instruction. Since June 2001, Treadwell has worked for Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) and served as interim for several North Texas districts.

Arrow compiled the community desired characteristics for the 2004-05 DeSoto superintendent search. The profile of personal and professional qualities and qualifications will again assist Arrow during the recruitment of candidates for the position.

Though no timeline has been established, the board promises to move swiftly to find a new superintendent to guide the district to academic excellence, a district representative said.
