McKinney Main Street 2007 Art & Jazz Festival gets tipply

— The city of McKinney added a new wrinkle to its annual Art & Jazz Festival, which took place on Saturday and Sunday around the old Collin County courthouse: the Munson Trail Wine Tasting, with samples from a dozen area wineries including Landon’s Winery and Lone Star Wine Cellars, both based in downtown McKinney.

The tasting highlighted the new Munson Wine Trail, a designation for a group of wineries located in the far north suburbs of Allen, Frisco, Prosper, Princeton, Rockwall, Ivanhoe, and Whitewright -- many of which have been founded in only the past few years.

The festival featured artists, dancers, food vendors, and kid activities, and jazz acts including the Cow Town Jazz Orchestra, Dan Cavanagh Trio, Set Apart, and the UT Arlington jazz Combo.

The setup was unique: Rather than the usual rows of tents with artists and crafts people, McKinney’s downtown businesses participated. Festivalgoers cruised in and out of the gift and antique shops, while restaurants such as the Londoner and the Spoon Cafe set up tables outside.
