The Tyra Scholarship was named in 1994 after James "Jim" Tyra, who was an advocate of programs that supported the youth in our community and acted as the bank's first Community Reinvestment Act officer. The North Dallas Bank James W. Tyra Memorial Scholarship Program, now in its thirteen year, awards two scholarships to area seniors from public high schools to help offset college expenses. The scholarship provides each recipient $1,000 per school year for up to four years.
