Potential for voting in Snider Plaza plans more favorable than in the past
University Park's Snider Plaza may finally get its extreme beauty makeover. Ok, so it won't actually be that extreme after all.
The 80-year-old shopping center has had some difficulty in the past getting needed updates because the center is owned by approximately 30 businesses that lease space there. The plan up for vote on Tuesday omits previously contested aspects such as an underground parking structure, residential buildings, and a park. Other standards of uniformity for the plaza, including sidewalk regulations and construction materials, were similarly removed from the new plan. What's left are changes that the many business owners proposed that will allow the space to remain as eclectic as it currently is, just better. How much better? Who knows.
Click here for highlights of what was actually left in the proposal.
