Southlake Carroll assistant lacrosse coach given state award

0

The Southlake Carroll Lacrosse Association is proud to announce that the Texas High School Lacrosse League has named Rich Coccaro “Man of the Year.” This award is one of the highest voted annually by the coaches and administration from throughout the state. Coach Coccaro is the assistant coach for the DI Dragon Boys Varsity program.

Rich volunteered as one of the Dragons first boys’ varsity assistant coaches during the SCLA’s inaugural season, 2000. His playing and coaching background originates in North Carolina. He has been one of the primary motivating forces in the varsity high school divisions along with head coach, David Smith since the Dragon’s varsity programs were formed, 7 seasons ago. Rich has seen a number of Dragon players accept college scholarships to play lacrosse, this year being no exception with All-American Sam Stevenson and All-District Greg Lehane.

“Through the years, Rich obviously has made a positive impact on other coaches and players to have been bestowed one of the highest honors in Texas lacrosse. Rich leads at the DI varsity level with positive drive, and when he can, he really enjoys instructing the younger players as well. He currently has been sharing lacrosse fundamentals within the CISD elementary and middle schools. Rich simply has a passion to share this life-time sport and when available, he freely gives his time,” shares Kelli Riley, SCLA Vice President. “It is truly the SCLA’s privilege to have a person with the character and integrity Rich brings to the program.”
