Dallas pizzeria Gordo’s not closing, not yet anyway, nope, still open

4

Frontburner posts a rumor that Gordo's, the pizza-and-burger spot on Lovers Lane by the Tollway, might be moving, with the evidence being that "the restaurant's principals were standing with a real estate agent in front of a vacant spot on Sherry Lane" as well as the presence of a "truck drilling core samples in the parking lot in front of Gordo's".

First of all, do readers of FrontBurner not come equipped with phones? Obviously they understand the concept of the Internet and "blogs." If you really wanted to know whether Gordo's had moved, would you: 1. send an email to Trey Garrison, or 2. JUST CALL Gordo's? It's almost like someone deliberately wants to spread these rumors or something.

If they'd called Gordo's, they might've gotten George Bachshmandi on the phone, who would have confirmed that both of those things were true -- that a visit was made to examine a location on Sherry Lane and that a truck was drilling in Gordo's parking lot.

The drilling was to see whether oil tanks were still buried under the surface, since Gordo's sits on the site of what used to be a gas station.

As for the Sherry Lane excursion, Gordo's owners were looking at the vacant property once occupied by Wonderful World of Cooking, whose Sherry Lane branch closed some time ago, with the idea of opening a sandwich-salads-lunch kind of concept. But, as Bachshmandi puts it, "they were asking an arm and leg." He also says that Gordo's gets regular offers to leave its location, especially from banks, and would be only too happy to move, but no one has offered a good enough price yet.

Apparently, the Frontburner folks aren't reporters either, since none of them seems able to pick up the phone and confirm or refute rumors of restaurant closings. I can think of several places about which they have published unfounded rumors.

So, if you post a linky back to their linky to this linky, will the circle then be unbroken? Will the twisted mutt howl? Will Kenneth finally get the frequency? Only a noodler knows for sure!
