The third academy at R. L. Turner High School will be completely finished this summer. The Math Engineering Technology and Science Academy (METSA) will offer a developmental four-year sequence that will introduce students to the discipline of engineering and engineering technology. Students will acquire technical knowledge and skills as well as gain an understanding of career opportunities available in the field of engineering.

Approximately 100 incoming freshmen will be selected each year based on academic records and teacher recommendations for the program. For more information, visit the METSA web site or call 972-968-5400.

The $25.9 million project at R.L. Turner High School also includes new classroom areas, ROTC facilities, art rooms, a "black box" theatre and a renovated auditorium.

Students moved into a brand new Fine Arts Wing named in honor of James (Jim) J. Moen, retired band director, with new band, choir and orchestra rooms in January 2007.
