Texas Woman’s University will host the first annual Pioneer Power Sprint Triathlon on Sunday, July 1, 2007.
This USA Triathlon sanctioned event is scheduled to begin at 6:45 a.m. and will feature a 300 meter swim, a 20 kilometer bike ride, and a 3.3 mile run.
The swim will take place in the indoor pool of Pioneer Hall. Both the bike and run courses will start and finish on the interior of the TWU campus (in front of the Blagg-Huey Library).
Ironhead Race Productions, a Fort Worth based company, will manage and produce the race.
All profits from the Pioneer Power Sprint Triathlon will benefit the TWU Soccer program. Fleur Benatar, the Pioneers head soccer coach and a competitive triathlete herself, is looking forward to the event.
“I’m excited,” said Benatar. “This is going to be an excellent triathlon. The TWU campus is the perfect place to host a race such as this one. Hopefully we’ll get a strong turnout for this competition.”
To register for the Pioneer Power Sprint Triathlon, please visit the Ironhead Productions website at http://ironheadrp.com/calendar/calendar.htm#pps. From June 8-27, the individual registration fee is $55.00. From June 28-30, the individual registration fee is $65.00. Registration will not be allowed on race day.
For additional details, please contact the TWU Sports Information office at (940) 898-2373.
