Tickets are on sale for the June 13 luncheon, set in conjunction with the Best Southwest Juneteenth Festival June 16 in Cedar Hill.

“The chamber saw this as a great opportunity to partner with the city in putting Duncanville's best foot forward for the Family First event,” Chamber President Lynn McGinley said. “We are looking forward to a great turnout and a wonderful luncheon.”

The Best Southwest cities include Duncanville, Cedar Hill, DeSoto and Lancaster.

Prices for Family First Day luncheon tickets are $15 and they can be purchased at the chamber or the Duncanville Public Library.

The luncheon is June 13 from 11:30-1 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn (300 E Wheatland Road, Duncanville). Guest speaker for the luncheon is WFAA Meteorologist Greg Fields.

Jazz singer Melody Shelby and gospel singer Katrina Woodle accompanied by Michael Hemphill on the piano and Jeff Aycock on the saxophone, will perform at the luncheon.

Channel 8 noted the Juneteenth festival also will feature live jazz, family entertainment, craft and food booths, a car show and more, with most activities free of charge.

The June 16 event takes place at Valley Ridge Park, 2850 Park Ridge Dr., near Tangle Ridge Golf Course from 4-10 p.m.

The event also includes a disc golf competition, a watermelon eating contest, and a sweet potato pie and teacake cook-off, along with the Texas Junior Angler Fishing event. Local children ages 12-17 were invited to enter a photography competition themed, “Texas and Our Heroes,” and winners will be named at the event.
